He may have been forced out of Hillsong Church due to allegations of sexual misconduct,

but that hasn't stopped former global senior pastor Brian Houston from giving advice to pastors.

Of course people will say,

it's not your church. Well, let me say, it's not your church.

Well, let me be controversial.

It is your church.

In a series of podcasts on church governance, Houston tells pastors why they need to be in charge.

He says, I was not appointed by any group of people or any human authority, but by Jesus Christ himself and by God the Father.

So it's true.

And he warned pastors about giving the board too much control.

What happens when you go from a church, aboard governed church to a board controlled church,

oftentimes that's what happens.

All of a sudden, and the pressure changes.

Now the pressure's pushing things downwards ultimately.

The pastor needs to retain the possession of ultimate power Houston says he also needs

to watch that he's never reduced to an employee.

And the board says about their leader.

He's a staff member, she's a staff member, I would say, put the alarm on.

Is this advice consistent with Scripture in the kingdom of God, or is it rooted in
