My guest today is Brett James.

Brett James's work is, if you listen to any popular music particularly country music but any music

you've heard his songs they often end up at the top of the charts and I'll give you his credits in a second,

but the thing I was, you know,

if you listen to the show, you know,

I'm obsessed with songwriters.

I think it's incredibly hard.

It's a hobby I take very seriously.

And the people who can do it the way that Brett has for as long as he has.

And at the top of the field are fascinating to me.

But even more so, I'm fascinated by the fact that Brett is someone who had a lot of

options in his life.

He's a very, very bright person.

He was a medical student. That was the path he was on when his life, he was able to take his life

and switch gears. And he made a series of decisions that I find incredibly compelling

and incredibly inspirational.

And I wish I would have known more stories like Brett's

when I was trying to figure out the direction of my own life.

So he's one of National's most successful songwriters.
