My name is Chris Crawford. I am joined by my good friend Drew Silva. We're going to be taking a look at some headlines. There were some transactions, one that happened literally just before we were about to start recording. But we're also going to be taking a look at some hitters who broke out in 23, what we kind of think about them for 2024, if there is a good chance for them to

continue the rise or maybe if we're a little bit skeptical. But let's start with the big news

that happened over the weekend, and that is Drew Aranola, signing a seven-year, $172 million

contract.

You know, I don't know if the postseason completely cemented what Nola got.

I think it was more based on what he did in his previous time.

It certainly didn't help, and there were lots of reports that Aaron Nola got offered more money than this.

I'm a little surprised that this happened as quickly as it did, Drew.

I did predict that there would be a pitcher that signed quickly when we were doing our

podcast.

I thought it would be with the Cardinals, to be fair, but not surprised that Aranola is coming

back to Philadelphia.

Maybe a little surprised at the AAB is this, though.

I mean, the story was that he was looking for $200 million.

That's what kind of leaked at the start of the off season.

And even going back to when he had some extension talks with the Phillies in the spring

that largely went nowhere because he had such an high asking price.

I get the vibe he just wanted to stay in Philadelphia. and it's not like they got a real team-friendly

deal here.

That's a lot of money for a pitcher who, how old is Nolan now?

Is he 30?
