Hey there from CNN, I'm David Rind with the five things you need to know for Monday, January 26th.

Let's start in Minnesota where outrage is mounting over the fatal shooting of yet another U.S. citizen by federal immigration agents,

37-year-old Alex Preti.

This morning, President Donald Trump said he's sending border czar Tom Homan to the state.

White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt has told CNN he'll be, quote, managing ice operations on the ground,

as well as, quote, coordinating with others on the ongoing fraud investigations.

Now, CNN's Elena Trin has a little bit more about how this might represent a change of strategy,

compared to how

top Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem have

handled things in Minnesota.

Holman is someone who is a veteran ICE agent.

He has served for many years.

He's actually very respected within DHS, but he has very different views.

He's a less hardline on immigration policy than Noem and Bovino have been.

There are also two crucial court hearings going on today about all this.

One relates to the temporary restraining order blocking federal agencies from destroying

or altering evidence related to Preti's killing, while another

will hear arguments from state and local leaders in their bid to temporarily halt the immigration

crackdown in Minnesota.
