I'm your host, Ellen Yin, and today's bonus episode is inspired by a great question I was

asked on stage last week when I was speaking at the Creative Educator

Conference in Dallas, Texas. And this question is something that I felt might be intriguing

to some of you as well because it's not something we've really discussed on the pod before.

And that is, how do you become a paid speaker? Now, there's so many things I could say on this topic,

but I just want to share with you three nuggets of wisdom today that I passed on to the attendees

at the conference I was speaking at. And I'm hoping that these things are actionable, tactical

tips that you can implement right away

to spur you on your journey to booking your next speaking engagement or your first paid

speaking engagement. So wisdom nugget number one is to go for the low-hanging fruit. Now,

I know that sounds like corporate speak, right? But what is,

what does that really mean? What I want you to do is to look at the people in your existing network,

your friends, people you already have relationships with that are doing the thing, are actually

out there speaking on stages, whether virtual or in person.

And I want you to make a list of three to five people who you already have an existing

relationship with that you know that these are people who want to support you and want to see

you win, right? And I want you to make a list of any events that

they've spoken at recently that you can remember. Once you've done that, I want you to go to

these speakers that you know, right, and say, hey, I saw you speaking recently at such and such event.
