What makes a good job? This is a conversation that we've been having a lot in the newsroom,

not just on Hello Monday, but on every show we produce. In fact, my colleague Dan Roth,

the editor in Chief of LinkedIn News, he sat down recently with former President Barack Obama.

They had a far-ranging conversation about exactly the question we're exploring. What makes a good

job? And President Obama, well, he had some really interesting advice for his own daughters.

He wanted them to understand that sometimes work is about just grinding it out,

that he didn't want them to skew too far toward trying to find their meaning from their work.

I felt like it was exactly in line with what we're talking about today, and so it's my pleasure

to share their conversation with you.

A president of any country has to focus on the big picture. In the case of the economy,

that's the forces that grow a country's GDP. But when you're an ex-president,

you get to pick what level you come into that conversation. And for former President Barack

Obama, our guest today, he wanted to focus on the 90,000 hours we spend in our jobs,

what we get out of work, what relationships we form while we're eating lunch with people,

what keeps us motivated throughout the day, and what brings us down.

President Obama has a new Netflix series called Working, What We Do All Day, where he follows

a series of workers through the routines, from a home health care aid and Mississippi to an engineer

in Pittsburgh to the head of a hotel in New York City. His goal is to help us all understand
