Summary

On today’s episode of Meet the RunPod Run Club, we’re joined by the lovely Pete Riddleston. Like the majority of people, Pete goes running to improve his mental clarity, and to help keep the weight of those 'grey clouds' at a comfortable distance. Think about it: up until this point, you’ve survived everything life has thrown at you. Owning your mental health, and not letting it define you, is the best thing you can do. No one asks for their struggles, and our lives change all the time. That’s a fact. Taking full responsibility for your mind is something we should all do, and running is a great place to start. Keep running, and keep going - it will pass. Looking to buy a RunPod T-shirt? Go here: linktr.ee/runpod

Hello there and welcome to another episode of this bonus series, Meet the Rumpod Run Run Club. Now I'm Jenny Faulkner and

0:22.6

I've mentioned many times that for me running gives me confidence. It's amazing as well how

0:28.0

something as simple as a run can change your entire outlook and make it seem so much more positive.

0:34.4

Well today's guest is someone whose life has also changed so much since he

0:40.5

discovered the joys of running. Please welcome to Run Pod. Pete Riddleston, hello there. Hi, Jenny.

0:47.6

How are you doing today? Very good, thanks. How are you? Yeah, no, I'm really good. Thank you.

0:52.0

Okay, have you been for a run today? I haven't. I had a very

0:54.1

early start this morning. I'm working in London today, so I was on the train early, but I was out

0:58.9

for a run yesterday, so that was really good. I know, do you know what? I was also out for a run yesterday,

1:03.7

and can I just say, we scored well because today it is rubbish weather. I don't know what it's like wherever you are, but yesterday was actually okay. Today it's chucking it down, so it seems to be okay. Can I ask a little bit about you, Pete,

1:15.7

you know, where you are from, where you live, what you do for a living? Yeah, sure, absolutely.

1:20.9

I live between Worcester and Stratford upon Avon, a little village called Inkborough. And what I do for a living is I work in

1:31.1

learning and development in the legal sector. So I help law firms develop their people through

1:36.2

their learning and development programmes. And that's sort of what I specialise in. But I started my

1:42.1

career as a lawyer, so I've sort of always worked in this

1:44.2

sector, really. Okay, very nice. And running seems to be very much part of your life now, but

1:49.6

actually it's interesting because that certainly wasn't always the case. Am I right in saying that?

1:54.3

Yeah, yeah, absolutely right. I mean, I've always loved sports. So sports has been a big part of my

1:59.9

life since I was little, really.

2:02.6

But running is quite a new thing for me, so I only got into running about five, six years ago.
