I think many of us spend so much time in hiding, we don't feel like we have much to be impressed about.
On this bonus episode, I talk about the reasons why it's so important for those of us on the journey of self-improvement to impress ourselves.
I also explore why I created my new program, Self Coaching Scholars, and lay out what I was able to create for all of you because of all the work I've done on myself... and getting out of my own way.

0:00.0 | Hey y'all, this is Brookestio and this is a bonus episode that I created for you because I found |
0:06.6 | myself weeping yesterday. Literally in a puddle of my own tears, I had to create a podcast and share |
0:15.0 | with you why and I'll get to that in a minute. But let's start with the title of this podcast, |
0:22.7 | which is called Impress Yourself. I was on a walk earlier and I was thinking about how |
0:29.6 | often we are impressed with ourselves. And I think for most of my clients it's pretty rare. |
0:37.8 | Most of the time we don't take enough time to be impressed with our capability. We don't take time |
0:45.3 | to be impressed with our capacity as human beings to develop. And I think so many of us are spending |
0:51.2 | our lives hiding that we don't feel that we have much to be impressed about. And so I started |
0:58.7 | thinking about how often I will get with my friends and we'll talk about how great we're doing. |
1:04.4 | It's kind of like we brag to each other. I'm like check out what I did and I'll say check out |
1:08.8 | what I did and we'll have a big party about it. And in my industry I feel like I want to be an |
1:15.9 | example of what is possible and I want to share my accomplishments and I want to share my moments |
1:23.0 | being impressed with myself. But I have to balance that out with this general feeling that I have |
1:29.6 | that people don't want to hear how great you're doing because it's like bragging. |
1:37.0 | And so I started thinking about this because I love to hear how other people are doing really |
1:42.0 | well and I'd love to hear about other people's success. And one of the things that came to my mind |
1:46.3 | crazily is sports and how I feel like so many times in sports people get to display their capability, |
1:57.8 | their capacity, their hard work by playing their sport on TV. So if you take for example a gymnast |
2:05.9 | you can see the work that they've put in. You can see the heartache that they've put in. You can |
2:11.4 | when they're doing those triple flips and flying all over the place you know that they've fallen |
2:16.0 | a bunch of times. And when they nail it in the Olympics, you're just it's like such a huge |
2:21.4 | accomplishment for them. And we all celebrate. We feel like them working us witnessing them working. |
