Every time I read media stories about Judge Amy Coney Barrett, I think about

that line from literature. I think about the line because the media cannot write a story

about Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett without including the modifier

quote devout Catholic not just Catholic not spiritual not authentic it always has to be quote devout Catholic and almost all

the media outlets do it so to be devout or not, maybe that is the question.

Let's get a couple of things out of the way first.

Number one, I'm not Catholic, so I don't pretend to know what the phrase devout Catholic means.

I spent a lot of time around Catholics when I was in DC and still do.

Mick Mulvaney, Johnny Radcliffe, Sean Duffy, Paul Ryan, Joey Kennedy, just to name a few.

I don't know whether this counts as devout or not, but the blessing before each

mill that we consumed in DC when the blessing was

uttered by our Catholic friends was very short and to the point and it was so short it almost encouraged me to convert because it was really short

When Radcliffe or Mulvaney said the blessing you barely had time to close your eyes and then you were eating.

When Tim Scott, who is not Catholic, said the blessing, you had to send your food back to get it

warmed up because it was going to be a very, very lengthy blessing.
