Good morning also to the doomssters and gloomsters amongst which I put

myself, Ian, the realists, the people who are not swept off their feet by a mop of blonde hair

and a history of a lack of failure to delivery and worse. Well, as you can imagine, we are going to spend most of this

week's podcast talking about the events of the last seven days, because there is so much

to talk about. We are going to also mention the Carl Beach sentencing and the fact that Joe Swinson,

remember her, she's been elected leader of the Liberal Democrats.

I don't really know where to start, but let's start with the leadership election result,

which I was supposed to be in the Q2 Conference Centre for.

And then Sky said, did I fancy spending three hours with Adam Bolton?

Well, who could turn down an offer like that?

In the end, I think I got on air for all

of 14 minutes in those three hours. And it was that baking hot day. And there was no shade at all.

So, wandering around the grass bit outside the Q2 conference centre, getting well and truly

sunburnt. But it was... Presumably. There was a bit of yelling, but that wasn't on College Green.

That was outside the conference centre, so it wasn't too bad.

And the result was, I guess, almost as expected.

I thought it might be a little bit narrower than 66%.

But that did give him the mandate to do what he wanted.

And boy, did he do what he wanted.
