I'm John Patrick with my colleague and friend and co-host Malcolm Holine, Conference of President's

Major American Jewish Organizations, and we're very pleased to go immediately to Colombia

and introduce Juan Manuel Galan, a former senator in the legislature, and now part of the new liberal party,

the founder and the driver of the new liberal party right now. However, we need some definitions.

Columbia is a troubled nation, longtime ally of the United States, very strong ties, very sophisticated,

educated citizenry. However, over these last years, there have been troubles in all directions.

Chiefly, I must mention Senator Uribe was shot in the head and remains in hospital.

The remedy is not obvious as he recovers from

the wounding. There's been an arrest in the wounding. There's ties to narco-terrorism and perhaps beyond that.

The same time, Gustavo Petro, you've only served once as president, you don't succeed yourself,

was elected to change direction for Colombia.

He has indeed made a speech before the legislature within these last days, and the anecdote is

that he was cat-called from the legislators and walked out of them. So, a troubled land.
