podcast. I'm the host Scott Feinberg and today I am joined by Bob Odenkirk.

He's a Zellig of the comedy world who has in recent years reinvented himself as a top dramatic actor as well.

He started out as a writer, winning Emmys for his work on both Saturday Night Live and

the Ben Stiller Show, also contributing to the Dennis Miller Show and late night with Conan O'Brien.

He gave occasional but memorable performances on the Larry Sanders show, Roseanne and Seinfeld.

He co-created and co-starred in Mr. with David Cross. He discovered Tim and Eric, and the list goes on.

But everything changed in a sense in 2009 when he was tapped by Vince Gillian to make a guest appearance as the lawyer Saul Goodman, aka Jimmy

McGill, on AMC's critically acclaimed and soon to be cult favorite, Breaking Bad.

His involvement with that show grew by the year, even when it came to an end his work with Gilligan did not.

As it turned out Gilligan and Peter Gould wanted to create a spinoff show, a prequel of sorts, named Better Call Saul, in which the backstory of

Saul Goodman would be explored. Two seasons of the show have now aired on AMC, and for his work on

each of them, Oden Odin Kirk has received an Emmy nomination

for Best Actor and a Drama Series. Over the course of our conversation the 53 year old

opens up about his love of comedy which first manifested itself at the age of 10 when he began writing sketches,

grew at 12 when he first discovered Second City,

and led to his first major gig in the comedy world at SNL where he experienced a series of tumultuous years.
