Hi everyone and thank you for tuning in to episode 77 of Awards Chatter, the Hollywood Reporters Awards

podcast. I'm the host Scott Feinberg and today I am very thrilled to be joined

by a guy who makes me laugh about as much as anyone will Forte. Forte first came to the public's attention during his eight-year

stint on Saturday Night Live, but in fact he was on the scene for years before that.

As a writer, for the likes of the Late Show with David Letterman, Third Rock from the Sun, and that 70s show.

While at Saturday Night Live, he ventured into movies, making a spin-off film of his sketch, Magroober.

Subsequently, he appeared in a number of other films, including one

that took a lot of people by surprise and earned him a lot of accolades, including the National

Board of Review's Best Supporting Actor Award. That was in Alexander Payne's black and white drama, Nebraska,

which ended up with a Best Picture Oscar nomination.

Since then, Forte has returned to the world of comedy,

namely for the last two years in the Fox comedy series,

the last man on earth, on which he serves as not only the star, but also a creator, writer,

executive producer, and showrunner.

For its first season, he received two Emmy nominations,

for Best Actor in a Comedy Series and for Best Writing of a Comedy Series.

For its second season, he has received another one,

for Best Actor in a Comedy Series.

Over the course of our conversation, we talk about Forte's circuitous journey to the world of comedy.
