Hey, everybody, welcome back to the Blister podcast on the Blister Podcast Network.

Last week, we had Jeremy Jones in the Gunnison Valley of Colorado for another event in our

0:24.2

Blister speaker series at Western Colorado University, and the event actually doubled not only as a

0:32.1

blister speaker series event, but it kicked off Protect Our Winter's Shop Talks tour, where Jeremy is going to be going

0:40.4

to four different campuses in four different states, to talk about the upcoming midterm elections,

0:46.8

and to encourage students to vote, and to get clear on which of the candidates running for office are earnest about being good stewards of our air, our water, and our land.

1:00.2

And so in this conversation with one of the greatest snowboarders of all time, I wanted actually to use this occasion to help clarify some things about the organization

1:14.9

that Jeremy started, Protect Our Winters, because as you'll hear me say, I encounter a number

1:22.9

of people who still seem to be a bit unclear about exactly what the mission of Protect Our Winners is

1:31.0

and what exactly the organization does. And so who better to try to get clear on these things

1:37.9

than the founder himself. And so we kicked off our evening at Western by first showing two films.

1:46.0

One, we showed some scenes from Jeremy's Purple Mountains film.

1:50.0

We talk about that in our conversation.

1:52.4

And we also showed a message from Jeremy talking about the midterm elections.

1:58.2

Then Jeremy got into our wide-ranging conversation that then got to be more

2:04.4

wide-ranging when we opened it up to audience questions. And then we ended the evening by having

2:12.1

Jeremy read a passage from his brand new book. So you'll learn more about that in this conversation, too.

2:20.8

Now, just before we get started, and since you might have noticed, winter is coming soon,

2:28.2

I wanted to tell you about a special offer that we have for any listener to this podcast or anyone in our

2:35.8

blister audience, you can take advantage of an exclusive 60-day trial to OpenSnow, which is the

2:46.9

weather app that I trust most, and that is why I am a paying subscriber.
