back in to John chapter 13, verses 16 and 17. In Jesus has just washed the feet of His disciples,

and then in yesterday's episode, we highlighted how Jesus intended for that to be an example

for us to demonstrate for us that Christians meet needs. That's part of what flows out of us

being a follower of Jesus Christ. Well, today we're going to move a little bit beyond that and find

out. There's actually something in it for us. And of course, that's not why we do things.

Yet it can be part of our motivation. Let's look at it in John 13, 16 through 17. Jesus says,

truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater

than the one who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you. If you do them.

So what Jesus is trying to drive home for His disciples and for us today is for us to understand

that if Jesus was willing to stoop to the lowest levels in order to serve people, the example he's

just done is washing dirty feet because there was a need there in the room. And he met it. If he's

not too proud to do that, then we as his followers should be willing to do the very same things.

If he's not too proud to step out of heaven and become a human being, we should not be too proud

to step out of our comfort zone and into the lives of others who are in need. You see,

friends, that's part of the DNA of being a Christian is we express the heart of Jesus every time
