A pretty big story broke this weekend that not too many people are talking about, but it will probably gain some traction over the next few days. And that is a piece

at CBS Sports by Matt Norlander, who's a terrific college basketball writer, about Bill Self

and Curtis Townsend, the coaches at KU. Obviously, Bill Self, the Hall of Fame head coach. Curtis

Townsend, his lead recruiting assistant, been with him forever and ever and ever. Matt Norlander

reporting from CBS that in June and July, the open recruiting, the in-person travel, go-visit

player recruiting period, Bill Self and Curtis Townsend were locked down by the University of Kansas,

that the school locked them down and said, you cannot travel, you will not go out on the road and

recruit, you are staying at home and pick other assistants to go recruit for the University of

Kansas. I'm really, really surprised this did not get out in June and July, because it would be

very easy for people to see and verifiable that, hey, self and towns and are around all the time.

Maybe they took some vacations. Maybe they left town and people thought they were recruiting

and they weren't. I don't know which, but they were able to keep this quiet for quite some time.

And I think what is most interesting here is we now know that it's getting close with the NCAA

in the University of Kansas as to what the punishment and or sanctions will be against KU for five level one NCAA violations,

many of which were in recruiting and have to do with the head coach and his responsibility

over the program.

So I can't answer exactly what this means other than it's the first indication by the University of Kansas that they are cooperating, that they are now working with the NCAA.

This has been a long, hard-fought legal battle where Kansas has staunchly fought the NCAA, with millions of dollars worth of attorney fees. Bill

Self has hired his own attorneys and staunchly fought the NCAA on his own, in addition to

what's going on at the University of Kansas. And they have battled and battled and battled.

It is paid off. They have continued to play. They've continued to win. They want a national
