You know one thing you always realize when you're around here, around a bunch of people with a bunch of different agenda, some of coaches, some media, some are administrators, is, boy, we sure do define what's good and bad about college football differently. them volatile teams. I just didn't feel the term clicked as well, although it's probably a better

term for some of these folks. Mike Elko is here like he's in the building right now. Has anyone

talked about him? Have you guys even been aware that, you know, Texas A&M fired Jimbo Fisher and they got

a new head coach.

I got some thoughts on him. You've heard me share it kind of before, but really in depth today. Are we really ever going to have a commissioner of this sport? Is it possible? How many people would have to relinquish power for us to have one? Auto bids? Are they a good thing? Even as I go on the air, the I-Josh is lighting up with friends of the program talking about how great

auto bids are, how much hope it gives, how many fan bases, and some coaches were on the record this week talking about that. So I'll do it today as well. We got a lot to get to. Okay, let's check in with something I've been waiting to do for a little while. I've been waiting to talk about this until we at least got some teams on the record. We got to hear from coaches a little bit. Who are the wildcar

teams in this sport this year? Not any given conference, just all over the place. The ones where

if you did your best and worst case scenarios, there would be like a five or six game gap

between the win-loss record. Strangely, I think Alabama belongs on here. Not to the degree

that you could sit there and see them go 12 and 0 or 6- 6 or anything like that. But if you think about what the norm has been, the norm has been, you sort of build that basement, you build that bottom floor at 10 wins. And it's a good reason, because they haven't been below that since 2008, I want to say it is. Stats and info can check me on that. Now all of a sudden, Kaelin DeBoer is there, and a lot of us think that he'll do good in time. I have said several times, and I'll say one more time, I've actually, ironically, got the most questions about his team this year, then I think I will down the road, which is weird because he takes the baton from a legend, And, you know, in this post-Lary-Coker world of ours, you are to assume that the better your situation

is, the better statistical chance you got in year one and then moving forward.

But Nick Saban, who is like right over here in another room right now, he said earlier this week

about the team he basically put together, if they can stay healthy, they'll be good.

It's the depth you probably worry about a little bit. And, you know, the whole Jalen Milrow, does he mesh,

do they get as much as you hope they can out of the offense? Do they have difference makers

up front? Can the secondary be retooled? The second half of the season, the longevity you have to have,

the luck you have to have. the luck you have to have,

will all that go their way? If it does, they could win a national championship. If it doesn't, it could be like an eight and four team, and all of a sudden you say, well, that's not very Alabama of you. So I think they're a little bit of a wild card. I think Wisconsin's absolutely a wild card. We're going to head up to Indianapolis next week. We'll hear from Luke Fickle and the boys.
