We are your host, Kristen Walker-Smith and Callie Black.

0:09.3

Hello and welcome to Big Picture Monday.

0:11.4

This is Callie Black here with all the context you need to totally rock this week's Come Follow Me readings.

0:16.0

This week is February 9th through the 15th, and we are studying Genesis chapters 6 through 11 and Moses chapter 8.

0:26.6

This week we are going to study two big stories. The first one, we'll take up most of our readings and that is Noah.

0:35.7

Noah and his ark. We get to study that story in its entirety.

0:39.7

And then we will end with the story of the Tower of Babel. So if you're like me and you want to know

0:45.0

like what stories are we hitting, where's my focus going, that's it. Noah's Ark and Tower of

0:49.5

Babel. We're going to learn a lot from these two stories. I am excited. The one thing we need to address is

0:57.6

that we are finishing the book of Moses this week. Moses 8 is the final chapter in the book of

1:04.2

Moses. This again is Joseph Smith's translation to the Bible, meaning the first part of the Bible, the first part of the

1:13.4

book of Genesis here, there was just so much that it was pulled out into the book of Moses,

1:18.7

chapters 1 through 8, which parallels up through Genesis about chapter 6.

1:24.7

From now on, Joseph Smith did receive a lot more revelation about things that should be added or changed or adjusted within the Bible, but they're not going to be in a separate book anymore. From now on, they will be in the Joseph Smith translation footnotes, or they might be pulled out in the Bible appendix. Now, to be clear, these are only found in the King James version of the Bible that is published by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. So if you are reading a different edition of the Bible, you are not going to be seeing these

2:01.3

Joseph Smith translation editions and footnotes each week, which is fine.

2:06.3

I love other editions of the Bible as well, but I do think it's important to be aware of what

2:12.0

is in the JST in both the footnotes and the larger portions that are pulled into the appendix.

2:18.0

So I think it'd be worth it to have your King James version with the JST out so that you could look at it,

2:26.8

or if you're on the Gospel Library app, just checking out the footnotes so that you're aware.

2:32.0

And I'll try and point out when there are JST footnotes or

2:37.5

bigger portions pulled out in the Bible appendix that I think are especially important and worth
