Welcome to One Minute Scripter Study, a Come Follow Me podcast.

0:05.0

We are your host, Kristen Walker-Smith and Callie Black.

0:09.2

Hello, and welcome to Big Picture Monday.

0:11.3

My name is Callie Black here with all the context you need to totally rock this week's Come Follow Me readings.

0:16.0

This week is January 26th through February 1st, and we are studying Genesis chapter 5 and Moses chapter 6.

0:26.2

Now, if you just want to flip through these two chapters real quick and look at them, you might

0:31.7

look at Genesis 5 and think, why are we studying this chapter all on its own? Because if you look at it, it's 32 verses, but they're really short verses. And it's almost entirely a genealogy chapter. One of those like, this person begat so and so, and then they begat so and so.

0:55.2

So you read Genesis 5 and you're like, this, why is this getting so much emphasis?

1:00.6

And then you transition over to Moses 6 and that's going to give you the answer.

1:05.5

So they are companion chapters, meaning that Moses 6 starts similarly with listing all the family

1:14.4

lines and who begat who.

1:16.6

But here's where Moses chapter 6 is different.

1:19.3

It's going to stop when it gets to a guy named Enic.

1:24.4

And then we are going to spend the rest of Moses 6 learning about Enoch's story and also Moses

1:31.2

7, which we will cover next week. So we get two full weeks on this guy named Enoch, whereas if you

1:38.2

were only reading Genesis, you would get his story mentioned in about, it's like five verses in Genesis 5 that Enoch is

1:45.9

mentioned in, just as like, here's another generation that's going on. So the rest of Christianity

1:51.9

is probably not going to have a single lesson about Enoch, because there's not a bunch about

1:56.9

him, whereas we get two full weeks of content about Enick. So I'm excited to dive into the

2:02.2

first half of Enoch's story this week. It really is a doctrine-rich chapter because we're learning

2:13.0

Enoch's story, but we're also learning what Enoch taught when he went to cry repentance to the

2:20.4

people. And as Enoch teaches, we actually learn a bunch of stuff about history, about what
