This week is April 13th through the 19th, and we are studying Exodus chapters 14 through 18. This week we are

going to talk more about the children of Israel who just had their great Exodus out of Egypt.

I'd say the three main events we're looking at this week as like your big cliff notes for the

week is that we're going to have Moses parting the Red Sea.

We're going to have the Lord providing manna for the children of Israel to eat.

And then we're going to have this episode where Moses needs to keep his hands raised so that

Joshua can lead the Israeli army to a win. And his brother Aaron and his friend Her help hold his

hands up so that he can keep them raised and the children of Israel win their battle.

Why are the children of Israel leaving Egypt?

Basically, they were in extreme bondage to the Egyptians,

and the Pharaoh did not want to let the Israelites return to their homeland of Canaan

potential political and military power. He just very, very afraid of them, very threatened by them.

I mean, we're talking like 600,000 people here. So huge massive group. After 10 very dramatic plagues from the Lord, the Pharaoh

finally told the children of Israel to leave Egypt very quickly. Although this week we're going to see

that the Pharaoh will harden his heart again and send his army, his Egyptian army,

with the intent to try and catch the children of Israel and bring

them back to Egypt. However, the Lord will instruct Moses to part the Red Sea and bring the children
