Welcome back everyone to one thousand one heroes legends histories and mysteries

0:36.1

podcast. This is your host John Haggadorn. As a history buff I'm constantly

0:41.5

coming across stories that are interesting but too short to make a full

0:44.6

episode. So I'm dedicating this episode to a collection of shorter stories. I

0:48.9

think you'll enjoy listening to and even retelling some of these stories that

1:43.1

friends at a local bar speculating how many balloons it would take to lift

1:46.2

a man into the sky. Flying was the long-held dream of his. The Air Force had

1:51.3

turned him down due to poor eyesight and now he said was his chance. For most

1:56.6

of us the story would end with a clink of beer glasses and some reasonable

1:59.8

thinking once our heads cleared. But Larry started looking for balloons and found

2:04.4

that what he needed was the kind that scientists launched into the atmosphere
