In November of 2018, the Miami Herald released a bombshell three-part series on Jeffrey Epstein's underage sex trafficking scheme, bringing that story to the public eye and later leading to Epstein's arrest and mysterious suicide, ultimately, two years later. So what happened in between?

Investigative reporter for the Miami Herald, Julie K. Brown wrote this monumental series

for the Herald. She goes on in more detail on her investigation on the reporting of this

story in her latest book called Perversion of Justice, the Jeffrey Epstein story. It was released

this week, and she joins me now with her untold story. Julie, congratulations, first of all,

on your award-winning reporting on this story. You dug where really nobody else was digging,

and you did a lot of good, I think, as a reporter, for shedding light on the stories of these young

women. So thank you for talking with me today. Thank you for having me. So talk to me a little

bit about, you know, the early days of this reporting, because I think everybody remembers when you dial back sort of how shocking it was.

Everyone heard these salacious stories about what this New York financier who owned this, you know, spread in Palm Beach, what he was actually doing behind those closed doors.

And you talk about how it was

sort of an open secret that he had this pension for teenagers. You know, so how did he go from that

to being prosecuted and really getting off easy? Well, I think, you know, it became known to police

that he had been having a lot of visitors,

young girls to his house. And they started investigating in about 2005 and wanted to fully
