Welcome to our Rosary meditation.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

As we begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,

Amen.

Beauty consists in order and surprise together.

One of the most orderly and surprising things in existence is us.

Humans are fascinating to other humans and for good reason. What is this thing that combines

angel and beast, a mind expressed through a mouth, an immortal will that shapes the world through just these hands

and just these feet.

An embodied spirit, the invisible lived through the visible, is a strange and lovely thing.

Which is why it makes sense that we would delight in other orderly and surprising unions of the material and immaterial.

In other words, we find beauty whenever truth or goodness takes physical form.

It's a fine thing to know the definition of a hero or to recognize that heroism is a demand

of the moral life, but nothing compares to a story of heroism to the concrete image of a man or a woman who gives up great goods for the sake of a greater good. For instance, I think I know what it means

to be a good father and I want to be a good father.

But when recently I heard the true story of a father

who drown in a septic tank

while he saved his son's life

by holding him up out of the filth. I was blown away.

Our father who art in heaven, hallow would be your name.

Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
