So here we are we're in Romans chapter one and we're going to start in verse six

0:05.2

So we're just doing our verse by verse study of the book of Romans. This is a slow

0:10.1

Methodical study. We're trying to get as much as we can out of the text itself.

0:14.2

This isn't where I just try to use the text to preach whatever I feel like but rather to

0:19.1

try to really like get as much as we can out of the word of God that's there for us.

0:25.4

So in verses 1 through 5, Paul talked about his calling.

0:28.9

I'm Paul, I'm a Bond Servant of Christ.

0:31.1

I am called to be an apostle, and then in verse six he mentions

0:36.2

among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ. You're called too. You have a calling too. Now Paul was called and we see it and we

0:47.8

naturally celebrate his calling. He's an apostle. Like whoa, this is big, big stuff. I I mean many of us wouldn't even want to be in that role because we just feel like we'd blow it

1:04.9

And so then we wonder what about me? What's my calling? What's my calling? What am I called to do?

1:11.5

Can I see my calling in my life? Now when I went to the school

1:14.2

of ministry over at Calvary Costa Mesa, there was a lot of pressure that people

1:19.0

would put on there. They'd be like, Paul was called to be an apostle. What are you

1:22.3

called to be? You better know. You better

1:25.1

know. And I remember hearing them share that and I just always thought the same

1:28.7

thing. I have no idea. I have no idea what I'm called to be like what my calling or ministry giftings are going to be I just knew I wanted to be faithful to the Lord I thought I wasn't sure but I thought I had a gift in teaching. I found myself explaining the Bible to people a lot.

1:45.2

They'd ask questions or things would be going on and I'd be like, well, I know what it means and I'd just be able to explain it and stuff like that.

1:51.4

And so I was a worship leader but I didn't feel

1:55.0

that that was like my ultimate calling from God and I could be wrong because my

2:00.4

feelings are frequently wrong. But I remember feeling this pressure about knowing your calling.
