Iran's top nuclear scientist was traveling with his wife in a bulletproof car, surrounded

by security vehicles when he heard what sounded like the popping sound of gunfire.

According to Iranian press reports, the scientist got out of the car to find out what was

happening, and was immediately gunned down, possibly by a remote control-operated machine

gun 150 meters away.

It was only the latest assassination of an Iranian scientist widely attributed to the Israelis.
