Imagine you've got a really good tag in the West and the season is winding to a

close but you're so busy you can't get away to hunt or so you think it's just tremendously frustrating

enter the backcountry bonsai trip now this topic was suggested by my old friend Skip Knowles some time ago.

Skip is a top-notch writer and editor and been a friend for a lot of years and he pointed out that a lot of guys that

hunt the backcountry do so without even staying overnight or in many cases just for one night.

And as such, this is a really invaluable technique and deserved being addressed and he's 100% right. Now a brief digression if I may

lest you think the spelling in the title of this episode is incorrect.

Bonzai, B-O-N-S-A-I, is a tree, like the little one trimmed by Daniel's mentor in the original karate kid movie right

when it's spelled b-a-n-z-a-i it's a Japanese cheer or battle cry. One definition suggests that it signified a

tactic used when a battle was about to be lost as a last-ditch effort to turn the tide.

And that's a great starting point for today's premise, which is creating success,

when all you have is a day to hunt.
