Hello wineappers, my name is Jesse Mekim and this is podcast number 522 for wineapp where

we teach you four rules to help you stop even paycheck to paycheck, get out of debt

and save more money.

I don't know about you, I don't know exactly what your school schedule looks like if you've

got the kiddos headed to school, if you do, maybe you already started or maybe you're

starting in a little bit.

But be that as it may, we've found as we dig through the data and get used to the seasons

of budgeting that exists, I don't know if you knew that, but there are seasons to budgeting.

We've noticed that the school year, the end of summer is just a prime time for people

to, I don't know, get a handle on things, maybe get a handle on that summer revenge spending

that you've been doing, kind of saying, whoa, we got a little loose and now it's time to

rain things in or gosh, this year is going to look different than it did last year and

so we've got to look at the budget again.

All I'm saying is that the budget needs to be looked at at a higher level, at least once

per year, we call it the budget burn down, if you do it Julie and I do, where you just,

you burn it all and you start with zero assumptions and you build from zero.

But there are also some other opportunities and the start of the school year is definitely

one end of summer where you can kind of step back and take a look at your budget.

Maybe you're not going to burn it down, but maybe you're just going to say, okay, things

are different, things, they're going to be different or they already were different

and our budget hasn't really reflected that.
