Police arresting Steve Lawson today, the Nelson County grand jury indicting Lawson on two charges,

conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence.

Three months after his son is indicted in the Crystal Rogers case,

Steve Lawson is arrested and facing charges.

Special prosecutor Shane Young officially tying him to the disappearance and

death of the 35-year year old mother of five.

Steve Lawson's attorney says the arrest came as a shock after dozens of police

interviews and a promise of immunity. What do you think they have on him? I don't know if they

have any more than I've told you but they apparently they chose to indict him

rather than give him the immunity that he was promised.

53 year old Steve Lawson is from Nelson County, a former employee of Brooks-Hauk.

You'll remember his voice from this phone call.

When Halc called him from the interrogation room during a police interview at the sheriff's office back in 2015.

I just want to tell you, I'm sorry about everything is going on in your life brother, I got

you my words.

I certainly, I said it is very difficult and trying time but I appreciate you.

Until his arrest that was the only time we had heard Steve Lawson's name. He was taken into custody in southern Indiana where he was visiting his mom.

After he was arrested police made a plan to have him extradited back to Nelson County where he would face a judge.

But planning an extradition doesn't always happen quickly.

So while we waited for that court date, I tracked down his representation, a well-known attorney from the area named Theodore Lavett.

He agreed to talk to me about his client's involvement in the case.
