Good morning, everyone. I'm Playbook co-author, Ryan Lizza. It's Tuesday, August 6th. Here's what's driving the day.

Kamala Harris's running mate is going to be announced very soon. Fort its worth last night,

Democrats trying to read the tea leaves leaves were talking a lot about Minnesota Governor

Tim Walls, and less so about Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro or Arizona Senator Mark

Kelly.

And at least on the outside, the conversation about who Harris should pick became over the

last 48 hours a bit like a mini primary, with labor and progressives lining up in favor of walls, and more moderate Democrats backing Shapiro and to some extent Kelly as well.

Although if you're reading the tea leaves and we caution against it, Kelly's star was fading yesterday as well.

Of course, the conversation on the outside often

can bear no resemblance to the conversation on the inside, but it is interesting that that

medic conversation has turned into a sort of ideological test with different groups trying

to push Harris one way or another, almost as if the VP search has become the

primary that the nomination itself never had. We'll know soon enough whether any of that

outside pressure from democratic groups mattered. We expect that announcement imminently.

Harris and her new running mate are scheduled to start a tour of

battleground states tonight in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. So while you wait for that news,
