Summary

In the intro of this episode, your host, Eric Skwarczynski addresses how IFB pastor Bill Reeves and his staff, plus other IFB leadership have been handling the Coronavirus situation by selling special tracts, encouraging people to attend their church in spite of CDC recommendations not to, and using the outbreak to guilt non-church attending believers.

For the interview, Eric is joined by Austin O'Hara.

Austen brings many unique perspectives to the IFB movement. As a transgender male, Austen describes the experience of being a female attending Hyles-Anderson College, the limitations of sex education, the lack of understanding regarding consent, and even what the experience was like when Jack Schaap was arrested.

He also discusses the parallels between attending one of the most notoriously strict IFB colleges and military service as a member of the Air Force, plus so much more.

What is up, everybody? Before we get this episode, I just got to talk about some craziness in the IEP that's happening right now.

0:08.7

Obviously, everybody on the face of the earth right now was concerned about the coronavirus, whether it's the virus itself, dealing with, you know, some of the crazier people out there that are stealing or and stockpiling all the people out there that are

0:21.5

stockpiling a lot of goods and you know making it difficult for people to find what they need at

0:26.6

the grocery store um i know i spent time today looking for wipes and to no avail for my daughter which

0:32.3

was not fun but i know it's definitely a scary time but but unfortunately right now, there's also a lot of

0:39.2

IFB churches, particularly one that was covered on the first episode of the show, that are taking

0:44.5

advantage of the situation to add an extra layer of fear and guilt onto their congregants.

0:50.5

And so at Pastor Reeves, so Pastor Bill Reeves, who was mentioned in the first episode,

0:55.0

if you haven't listened to that episode with Paul yet, you should listen to it. But Pastor Bill

1:01.8

Reeves, who is a troublesome problematic figure when I'm putting it nicely, has gone out of his

1:08.1

way the last couple days along with his son at, I believe it's at David Paul Reeves.

1:13.6

They've just been tweeting about the coronavirus and they actually, this is really the gross part,

1:19.6

actually put out a link to purchase tracks regarding the coronavirus.

1:25.6

And so the track kind of is a fake out. It says

1:29.7

facts about the coronavirus. And then it has like one line about that. And then on the backside,

1:34.3

it says the real important virus is a sin. And it gives you steps to the cure for that sin. So

1:40.3

imagine you get a pamphlet and you think it's about curing the coronavirus or prevention and taking care of your family.

1:46.6

And on the back, it's a flimsy invitation to attend their church service, which they are still having.

1:55.0

They put out that they're still going to have services as of when this released, I guess, today.

2:00.1

They said they wiped down the pews,

2:01.6

so everything should be good. This is not a joke, by the way. I'll add some screenshots in the show

2:05.7

notes. I wish it was. There's actually some posts on the Preacher Boys page, so you can actually
