Summary

“This man was my boss, my pastor, my father-in-law, and the man of God in my life. When he started sexually touching and abusing me, it almost broke me. I was programmed to please him in all that I did but I knew this was not supposed to happen but fell into a sense of shock and repressed the memories as he would use my body for his deviant pleasures and sexual release. Grooming a victim for rape is about control, and he knew he had it. He began a years-long sexual abuse of me that further isolated and silenced me. In fact, after the initial abuse incident, I was so traumatized that I completely lost my singing voice. My two-plus octave range was reduced to a scratchy three notes. My heart was broken. I saw how expertly he manipulated and raped me. I would only have to imagine that several other victims exist because he clearly knew what he was doing, and he was bold enough to sexually violate his own daughter-in-law. This man knew how to get what he wanted and what he did to me hurt more deeply than I will ever be able to fully express. I was now his, and he owned my body to do as he wanted.” – Becky Calvert

0:55.5	introduction to the Independent Baptist Movement? My name is Becky McCauley, but I have been up until
1:02.0	the last year, Becky Calvert. My introduction to the IFB, I was raised in a preacher's home. My father
1:09.6	got saved when I was four. He had been a farmer in
1:13.1	Indiana, and a brother-in-law was concerned at the breakdown of his marriage and brought his
1:18.0	preacher to see him, and my father accepted Christ. And our family then moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee,
1:25.5	and my father attended Bible College and became a pastor.
1:28.4	So I grew up in a pastor's home.
1:30.7	I was saved, like I said, at the age of four.
1:33.4	I love Jesus.
1:34.7	I still, I am in love with the Lord.
