Thanks for listening. So today on Ask Dr. Kim, the question that we got was my spouse brought home

a dog without asking me, what do I do? Let me tell you, this is actually

like a big issue and has happened to like tons of people that I know where one spouse will bring

home an animal without other spouse's approval. And it definitely does cause some issues because

this is a big decision. In fact, my mom got so upset she wanted to adopt a dog from a shelter. And so she went,

she picked out the dog and, you know, my stepdad knew she was going to go get the dog and he was

totally cool with it. And they were like, yeah, we're going to get a dog, but he just couldn't come

with her because he was working. And the shelter would not let her take the dog home because they were like, we want to hear from your spouse that this is

okay because they had had so many people who had adopted a dog or a cat or anything and then had

to come back the next day because they're like, oh, I didn't get my husband's approval. I didn't

get my husband's approval. We don't want the dog anymore, so we have to rehome it. And so the poor

shelter was tired of dealing with this issue they have

which just totally makes sense. So Dr. Kim, what do you think? What do you think about this

issue that so many couples are experiencing? I think they do and I haven't had a ton of that

overall but I've seen it happen and I've seen it and I think you and I would talk before

this question before we got on the air that it seems to be usually the wife doing that.

Maybe that's motivated by the kids a little bit or whatever. I have seen some dads bring a dog home,

and it's usually like a hunting dog or something like that, you know, trying to sneak in.

I think it's just like anything else. If you haven't talked about it beforehand,

you're probably going to have trouble with that. I think it's a great what the shelter did. I hope
