A 45-year-old cold case cracked.

On March 3rd, 1979, the body of 31-year-old Catherine Donahue

was found in a parking lot in Glenard in Maryland, about 17 miles from her hometown of Arlington, Virginia.

The FBI says she was beaten, raped, and killed in a brutal murder. Back then, police were unable to

zero in on a suspect and the case went unsolved for decades, with Donahue's family waiting for answers.

DNA was left on her body, and last year, police say they were able to find a relative of the

suspect using genetic genealogy. The investigation led them to Roger Zodas Brown, who lived in

Prince George's County at the time of the murder. Brown is now 82 years old and was arrested last

week at his home in North Carolina.

Police say he was solemn and cold and showed no reaction when he was arrested. They also say

there's no known connection between Brown and Donahue. Brown was charged with first

degree murder, rape and other charges and is awaiting extradition to Maryland. There's more on
