I'm Gianna Jalosi with your Fox True Crime Minute. A man on Long Island is charged with murder after

allegedly shooting and killing his dad in the kitchen of their home. Forty-three-year-old Christopher

Miller pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in a courtroom last week for fatally shooting

his dad, retired Suffolk County police detective John Miller. The younger Miller admitted to shooting

his dad four times with a shotgun

before driving the pointed end of the weapon into his head to finish him off. Two days prior to the

shooting, Christopher was hospitalized after getting into a fight after a car crash on St. Patrick's Day.

Police say he was discharged, came home, and then Wednesday morning shot his dad after an argument.

Then tried to hide in a neighbor's shed, but the homeowner spotted him and called police.

When cops brought him home,

they found the father dead in a pool of blood.

Miller faces 25 years to life if convicted.

His lawyer says he's obviously going through something traumatic.

He recently moved back into his childhood home after a divorce.
