breaks beyond the horror gentsia and into the cinema mainstream.

A buzz builds around it and it becomes the eye of the horror hurricane.

It happened with it follows the witch trained to Busan, Raw, and Get Out, among others.

The movie that's the center of attention now is hereditary, and the film's writer-director

Ari Astor is with us to share how the movie came to be.

Ari, thank you so much for being here. You are the talk of the town right now.

And how does that feel, I mean, this movie exploded at Sundance, not at a genre festival, but at Sundance.

So tell me about what led up to that and

and what it felt like that night.

I mean, we we hadn't finished the film when it when it premiered at Sundance

we still yeah we we had not finished the the visual effects in fact we we had to make sort of a last minute decision about

whether we were going to accept Sundance's invitation because we we needed two months at least for the visual effects and we had about two and a half weeks to finish them if we were going to, well not to finish them but to get what we could

done for the premiere if we were going to accept the invitation.

And of course we did, and I'm so happy we did.
