Argentina, Javier Milai, the new president is a colorful speaker and a world champion celebrity.

At the same time, he's the president of a troubled country.

I read from Reuters reporting Argentina's monthly inflation rate in May was the lowest since

2022 cooling for the fifth straight month.

I welcome Mary Anastasia O'Grady, the America's columnist and editor for the Wall Street Journal

editorial page, to help me understand whether there is success or just promises in Buenos Aires

for a troubled economy long under the

thrall of hyperinflation. Mary a very good evening to you I start with the

momentary success you identify in your new column that

havier Malay is learning politics and while he didn't get everything he

wanted in what was called an omnibus bill he did make a start

is that good news is that something we've not seen before?

Good evening to you, Mary. Well, good evening, John. As you know, probably noted from my

peace on Monday, I was in Buenos Aires and I was at a conference actually where

Javier Mille spoke. There's a lot of enthusiasm around his presidency because he is intellectually he's very well trained as a free market economist.

So when he speaks he basically expresses the desire of many

Argentina to end the decades long system system of parentism which is big state government, lots of very

strong labor unions and a very limited amount of economic freedom. So he's excellent at expressing that. He also has

said that he wants to dollarize the economy. Now the problem comes he's been in

office for six months and his party which is Liberty
