Hey welcome back to the personality hacker podcast my name is Joe Mark Witt and I'm

Antonio Dodge I'm gonna date myself right now and say that when I was a younger man I went to

the movie theater and I watched a movie that was an

incredible movie for its time and I think still is an incredible movie.

It shifted my perspective in a very high degree.

The movie was The Matrix. It came out in 1999. And it really

deals with this idea of this main character flowing through his life, kind of on autopilot. and in the movie he's a computer hacker

and basically he starts to explore maybe the reality he's living in is not the actual reality of what's going on. Maybe there's something

deeper that's happening in the world than what he can perceive and achieve and

be able to see with his own eyes.

And when this movie came out, it was not just

a philosophical leap for Hollywood in what they're portraying

and some of the reality bending and distortion and looking at

reality in a new way. It was also technologically advanced for its time. It used a

lot of what we call now bullet time. It would slow down the film frame. Now we

take it for granted, you know, almost 20 years later.

But at the time slowing down the film frame and seeing the bullets whiz by somebody in real like in real slow motion and the person moving out of the way.

It was a brand new way of seeing cinema. So it

broke a couple fronts, I think, cinematically, at least for mass market movies

here in the United States and around the world. So I'm sure you've

probably been exposed the movie if you've never seen it. I encourage you to see it. It's a very

interesting movie and one of the themes that comes from it it's it kind of harkens back to this idea of Plato's allegory of the cave.
