Summary

Ladies! Today is for you. We are wrapping up a mini-series on gender roles in marriage. Elizabeth, Brook, and Diane cover what a woman’s part is in marriage from a biblical perspective. We cover the foundational terms of the Hebrew word “helper”  (Ezer). We talk about the dance that wives and husbands play and how to live them together. We also cover the six questions for self-exam, which are: 1. Am I cultivating a life that has space to become the type of woman Proverbs refers to? 2. Am I relying on my own power or the power of the Holy Spirit to be a Godly wife, mother, and disciple? 3. Am I begrudgingly giving my husband respect because I don’t think he deserves it? 4. Have I willingly accepted my God-given role as a partner with my husband? 5. Am I continuing to develop the gifts and passions God has entrusted to me? 6. Are you trusting God with what you can’t control, fix, or understand? Enjoy

All right, so today, as promised, we are going to be finishing up our series on gender roles

1:08.5

in marriage. We've had a foundational teaching. We've covered husband's roles, and just last week,

1:13.6

we started the wives' role specifically in marriage, and it was such a big, wonderful conversation,

1:19.6

as we talked about, that we actually split it up into two parts. So this is actually part two

1:24.4

of a conversation we started last week. So if you haven't had a chance to listen to last week,

1:29.1

we just encourage you to pause and listen to it for more context. This episode will not make much

1:34.1

sense without that. So take a second. And if you haven't listened to all the other episodes,

1:38.8

meaning the ones on gender roles in marriage, this would be a helpful time to do that before you

1:42.9

even get into this episode. Diane and Elizabeth and I had such a rich conversation. It blessed me in

1:48.4

so many different ways. But today, we're going to cover the six things that you, wives, can ask

1:53.6

yourselves in reflection to your role and in your process and development of coming more like Jesus.

1:58.8

So we hope today blesses you and you enjoy the conversation. You guys ready to go through the

six? I am the only reminder that we talked about before, as a group before we started recording,

2:10.0

is the understanding that we are talking to wives primarily now, especially these six things.
