And have you ever felt that your family didn't support you?

Have you ever felt like the things that you do, they're not recognizing it?

They're not appreciating you. Does it matter?

Should you crave that? Well, I had a conversation with Dr. Daniel Black about this very topic

on the heels of a clip that was going around with Roberta Flack breaking down when she was talking

about her own family, not really recognizing the great things that she was doing.

And I arrived at a conclusion during this discussion. And I want you to take a listen. So I pulled this

Roberta Flack because she was so hurt by a thing. And I think it's natural. It's a natural thing, right?

We do a thing and we're great at it, but we want validation.

Absolutely.

So we expect validation.

Absolutely.

So we might know it's great, but until we hear from other people, it's like, and we

wait for it.

And sometimes it doesn't come because a prophet's never welcomed in his own home.

So this.

So, and I want to actually talk to you about that too because, you know, again, going back to parenting and all of this, sometimes the most hurtful thing comes at the hands of people who brought us into this world.

Absolutely.

And it's because of the expectation that we have that these people, because they brought us into the world,

are supposed to love us more deeply than anybody else.
