Hello, everyone. Welcome to Slash Film Weekly. It's Wednesday, April 29th, 2026. On today's episode of the show, we're going to be talking about the latest film and TV news. We'll talk about the movie Apex that's on Netflix right now. We'll present interviews with Charlize Theron and Terran Edgerton. We'll discuss Mother Mary, the new film from writer-director David Lowry and play an interview with him. And then we'll also talk about over-year-dead body and provide interviews with director Yorma Tocconi and stars Jason Siegel and Samarrow Weaving. My name is Ben Pearson. I'm an editor at slashfilm.com. We're not going to be talking about Michael on today's show. It's probably going to be one of the biggest hits of the year. And we're not going to be talking about

talked about that on this week's episode of our box office podcast called Movies Now More

Than Ever, which you can subscribe to at patreon.com slash pop cultured with a D at the end.

And I remember liking that movie a lot when I saw it 20-ish years ago. And it's streaming now

1:18.1

on Paramount Plus and Hoopla if you want to check it out. I feel like I'm due for a rewatch for that

1:21.9

one. So I feel like the premise of that movie, which is about a town that's just over the border into New Jersey,

1:30.3

where a bunch of New York cops kind of like run the town and do dirty business, basically,

1:37.5

is pretty ripe for a TV adaptation.

1:40.0

I think that could work out pretty well.

1:41.7

So fingers crossed on that.

1:43.5

Meanwhile, Josh Rubin is co-writing and directing Heart Eyes 2, the sequel to the horror romance that he released last year.

1:50.9

We talked about that movie on this podcast at the time, so you can go back and listen to that.

1:55.1

If you missed that conversation, deadline says that Olivia Holt will be reprising her role as Allie.

2:00.4

So that's good news for fans of the original movie. and that's set to come out on February 11th, 2028, just in time for Valentine's Day.

2:08.4

Benedict Cumberbatch is going to star in and produce a TV series called White Smoke for A24, and this sounds really fun.

2:14.9
