Meet Leah Juliet, a candidate in this year's Miss Connecticut competition.

Last year, Leah was first runner-up, one place away from going on to the main event, Miss America.

Leah is an award-winning writer, speaker, organizer, and non-profit leader, overall a powerful

competitor.

They are also non-binary, heavily tattooed, and self-identify as fat.
