Welcome to our henhouse. This is Jasmine Singer. And this is Marianne Sullivan. And this week,

Marianne will be talking with Gabriel Wilgin, who is with the Humane League and is heading up the

new Animal Policy Alliance,

which is creating a network of and providing assistance to all sorts of animal protection

organizations around the country, both state and local, working on farmed animal and food issues.

It's really a breath of fresh air to hear what Gabriel has to say.

Yeah, I love this idea. They're putting a lot

into it. And I think it's very powerful. I mean, I think everybody is going to want to listen to this

because it could be inspiring, I think, to a lot of people as a reason to start getting

involved, either with an organization that already exists or actually starting up an organization for those, for the very ambitious, because it's, I think that they have

identified something that was missing and that's very important and that really could change

the ability of organizations to do public policy work. I mean, a lot of it would be legislative, lobbying and that sort of thing,

other kinds of things to regulatory work and whatever.

And, you know, he'll explain all of that in the interview.

But the idea that all of these organizations can get this kind of support

rather than everybody acting on their own,

and there's already so many organizations at the state and local levels doing amazing work.

But, you know, empowering them to do more.

I love this idea.

And I really, really liked Gabriel.

He is very inspiring.
