Summary
Religious Studies professor Andrea Jain is back on the podcast -- this time to talk to Jason about her new book, "Peace Love Yoga: The Politics of Global Spiritualization." Jain's book explores the connection between global spirituality and neoliberalism. While Jain acknowledges that yoga is healthy practice, she's concerned by the ways in which modern yoga (she uses the U.S., Canada, and India as examples) has been commodified and packaged to encourage complacency (think: "good vibes only" culture) and often overshadows the action that's required to create a more equitable world. It’s an eye-opening interview hosted by Jason. (PS: To hear the previous interview with Andrea Jain focusing on her book "Selling Yoga," listen to episode 200)

| 0:45.7 | Andrea is obviously an academic, she's a professor, and so this book is dense and hard to summarize in a pithy way, but essentially what Andrea attempts to do is to look at global spirituality and how it supports neoliberal capitalism in the way that it's packaged. |
| 1:10.0 | So it can be a little, it's easy to get defensive right when we're in the yoga community and we are hearing someone |
| 1:18.0 | offer a critique of certain aspects of our culture and community but Jason and I both appreciate Andrea so much. |
| 1:25.6 | She is not in the community, so it's actually easier for her to be a bit more objective. |
| 1:32.4 | She has more space to easier for her to be a bit more objective. |
| 1:32.6 | She has more space to step back and make connections |
| 1:37.5 | that she sees. |
| 1:38.8 | And there's just a lot to learn from her. So enjoy the episode. I can't wait to hear what you think. |
| 1:46.3 | Also, I forgot to say, the previous episode that Andrea and I did together was episode 200. |
| 1:50.8 | So go back and listen to that one too. I think you will enjoy hearing |

| 2:02.9 | You get to hear him in his previous lifetime |
| 2:07.0 | as an activist and a philosophy major. |
