| 0:14.1 | We're going to look at verses 8, 10, and 14. |
| 0:18.5 | Hannah was a very emotional person. She prayed with her whole soul at the tabernacle. In fact, it says |
| 0:26.6 | she was in bitterness of soul and prayed unto the Lord and wept sore. Her husband did not |
| 0:35.9 | understand all of this emotion and passion. In fact, he asked, |
| 0:40.3 | Why weepest thou? And why eatest thou not? And why is thy heart grieved? Am not I better to thee than ten sons? |
| 0:49.3 | Now the priest, Eli, didn't understand either. He said, |
| 0:59.8 | Eli said unto her, how long wilt thou be drunken, put away thy wine from thee? |
| 1:02.8 | But she wasn't drunk on wine. |
| 1:16.8 | Hannah's heartfelt, heartbroken, sincere emotions were misunderstood by those around her. And yet, those deep emotions led her to the Lord, led her to make a sacred vow, and gave her the spiritual confidence to ask for what she wanted. |
| 1:25.3 | This paved the way for a son to be brought into her life, one who would |
| 1:30.3 | eventually bless all of Israel. Hannah felt pain and sorrow. And she wasn't afraid to express those |
| 1:39.6 | emotions. And when the blessing of having a son came, she prayed with so much joy and emotion too. |
| 1:46.7 | I am so grateful for this emotional, spiritually strong woman. |
| 1:51.8 | And I'm thankful for the strong emotions each of us can experience, even if misunderstood by others at the time, that can lead us closer to God. |
| 2:03.2 | So the takeaway of the day in five words or less, |
| 2:06.0 | strong emotions lead to God. |
| 2:10.0 | Thank you so much for being here today |
| 2:11.4 | and for coming close to Christ with me one minute at a time. |
