Hey, it's Callie Black here with the day's thought.

Let's open up to 1st Samuel, Chapter 1.

We're going to look at verses 8, 10, and 14.

Hannah was a very emotional person. She prayed with her whole soul at the tabernacle. In fact, it says

she was in bitterness of soul and prayed unto the Lord and wept sore. Her husband did not

understand all of this emotion and passion. In fact, he asked,

Why weepest thou? And why eatest thou not? And why is thy heart grieved? Am not I better to thee than ten sons?

Now the priest, Eli, didn't understand either. He said,

Eli said unto her, how long wilt thou be drunken, put away thy wine from thee?

But she wasn't drunk on wine.

Hannah's heartfelt, heartbroken, sincere emotions were misunderstood by those around her. And yet, those deep emotions led her to the Lord, led her to make a sacred vow, and gave her the spiritual confidence to ask for what she wanted.

This paved the way for a son to be brought into her life, one who would

eventually bless all of Israel. Hannah felt pain and sorrow. And she wasn't afraid to express those

emotions. And when the blessing of having a son came, she prayed with so much joy and emotion too.

I am so grateful for this emotional, spiritually strong woman.

And I'm thankful for the strong emotions each of us can experience, even if misunderstood by others at the time, that can lead us closer to God.

So the takeaway of the day in five words or less,

strong emotions lead to God.
