On July 15th, 2020, the cousin of 33-year-old tech entrepreneur Fahim Saleh was getting worried,

because Fahim was not responding to phone calls or text messages.

Fahim was not your typical finance bro.

He was a tech entrepreneur and he had built several successful businesses, but he also kept his feet on the ground. He was the type of guy who gave

back to the community. But given his business, he was always on social media. He talked to his

family every day. So him not responding at all was highly unusual.

Fahim had bought a seventh floor apartment at 265 East Houston Street in Manhattan for $2.25 million

in 2019. I remember reading about this story when it came out and being pretty obsessed with it because

I was living in Lower Manhattan during COVID. And this happened right at the height of COVID.

So I was sitting at home following the news cycle. I actually used to live just a couple of blocks

from this building. I've been to parties in this building. And it is a very safe building in a very safe area. I should say this was not a doorman building. There was an

intercom and a virtual dormant system. She took the elevator upstairs. Now, Fahim had an apartment

where the elevator opened directly into his living room, and when those doors

opened, she saw something that looked like a horror movie set. She realized she was looking at

Fahim's body, his torso, near an electric saw that was still plugged into the outlet. So she probably realized in that moment that not only had her cousin been beheaded and

dismembered, but that saw was still plugged in.

The killer could be still inside that apartment.

She turned around and started to run.

911 was called and the police swarmed that apartment complex.

An autopsy would show that Fahim's official cause of death was from five stab wounds to the neck and torso.
