It was Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2009, in Jupiter, Florida.

Muriel and Jimmy Sitten were hosting their yearly Thanksgiving get-together.

There were 16 members of their family around that table.

The family members included Muriel's parents, her mother, Raymond Joseph, and her father, Dr. Antoine Joseph.

They had been married for over 50 years. Jim and Muriel's daughter, 6-year-old Michaela, was also in the home.

Antoine Joseph's sister, Carol marriage, was there with her husband Michael and their twin daughters,

33-year-old Carla Marriage and Lisa Ann Knight. Lisa and her husband, Patrick Knight, had recently

announced that Lisa was pregnant. They were expecting their first child. Right as everyone was

sitting down to eat, there was a knock on the door. Muriel opened it,

and she would later tell investigators she was shocked to see Carol and Michael's son,

35-year-old Paul marriage. Paul was an hour and a half late. Paul had issues, serious mental issues, and he had had conflicts with several members of the family in the past. In fact,

he had been banned from Thanksgiving in 2008, the year before. Things got so serious in 2008 that Antoine told Carol and Michael that if they

brought Paul with him to the dinner, that Antoine would cancel the whole thing. So this year, they didn't

bring Paul with them. But unbeknownst to

everyone else at that table, Carol and Michael had told Paul where the dinner was taking place.

They invited him without anyone else knowing. When Paul showed up, they did let him in. No one

wanted to upset the good mood, so they invited him to sit down. He didn't eat,

just watched everyone and sat there in silence. After dinner, they did a sing-along at the piano,

singing Christmas carols. Then six-year-old Michaela danced for the family. She was super excited

because the next day she was going to perform in the nutcracker at her little

recital. Then Michaela put on her tinkerbell pajamas and went up to bed at around 9 p.m. A few
