On September 24, 1997, a man named Greg Siner was on the grounds of the new house he had just

bought in Hopkinton, Rhode Island, with his partner, Gardner Young, when he noticed a really

bad smell. They had bought the house together, and for Greg, it was kind of a dream house, a big

estate on 40 acres of land.

The home already had dog kennels that had been installed by the previous owner.

But because of the mysterious disappearance of the previous owner in 1987,

the house had been sold to them for kind of a rock bottom price of just $265,000.

But the place was in rough shape, and the kennels had fallen into disrepair.

The two men were a couple. Gardner worked in finance. Greg was a dog groomer. He had always had a dream of becoming a professional dog breeder. So they kind of started to share this dream of moving to a house

out in the country. In reality from interviews I read, it seemed like for them this dream of

idyllic country life kind of quickly turned into a nightmarish money pit. Nothing in the house was

working, including the septic tank. So Greg was out by the kennels, hosing the kennels down when he noticed that smell.

This, by the way, was according to an interview that Greg gave to the TV show Unsolved Mysteries.

Greg pulled the cover off the lid of the septic tank and was shocked to discover a human skull.

As soon as he got over that initial shock, he later told reporters he knew immediately who

that was, the house's former owner, an eccentric millionaire who was born Camilla Lyman,

but who had lived many years presenting as a man named Cam Lyman.

Cam had been missing for ten years, and now everyone knew he wasn't on a jaunt through Europe.

The manner of death was definitely homicide.

There were cinder blocks tied to each one of Cam's arms.

Someone murdered Cam Lyman and put him in that septic tank. But who?
