Hello,

0:02.0

Hello, everybody and welcome to the Total Soccer show.

0:25.6

My name is Taylor Rockwell.

0:26.9

And today we're going to be taking a look at the Americans who got a move in the January transfer window.

0:32.5

To do that, I am joined by a gentleman who at time of recording has not yet moved to Bayern Munich.

0:37.0

We'll see what happens.

0:38.0

It's Joe Lowry.

0:38.7

Hello, Joe.

0:39.4

Hello, Taylor.

0:40.1

No, you're right about that.

0:41.1

I have not moved to Byron Munich.

0:42.4

And I don't think my agent's going to be able to get that deal over the line. So it looks like I'll be staying for now. Okay. All right. So we've got you for at least another few months, and then we'll see what happens in the summer.

0:36.6

Now, you are, I guess, free to negotiate.

0:38.2

Now, suddenly, this is getting real, and I don't like it, Chip.

0:40.3

Don't leave us.

0:41.4

Yeah, I won't negotiate, Taylor.

0:43.2

I'll stick around. I quite like it here. Okay. I appreciate that. As I said, we're going to talk Americans who are on the move in January. But first, we're going to talk a little bit about our live show we've got this week. Joe and I are doing another Soccer 101 live show on stereo. It's going to be Thursday at 6 p.m. We heard from a few people that five was maybe a little bit too early or cut into work time. So we're going to try to push back, give people a little bit more of a cushion. And that one is going to be answering some listener questions, putting some questions out to the audience. So it's a bit more interactive. and then we're going to be talking about Joe's Soccer 101 topic from this week, which is what, Joe? Oh, we're talking about LaMasia. So I'm going to dive into, I have the script mostly ready, I have my talking points, mostly ready. So all that's left released for me to record that and get that out there. But it's all about how LaMasia came to be, what it is, why it became such a big deal and maybe why now it's not as big of a deal as it used to be. All right. So I look forward to it because we know the kind of continued sustained importance of it, but then there's been much made of the fact that they've kind of moved away from promoting from within and instead spending a ton of money that they don't necessarily have. So I'm excited to hear about the evolution of it and talk with you about it again. That's going to be 6 p.m. on Thursday on the stereo app. Maybe we can put a link to that show or one of our accounts in the show notes so people can follow us there and give it a listen. Hopefully they will tune in. Joe, any other housekeeping to get to before we talk Americans? I don't think so, man. I think I'm ready to go. All right. Then, I will warn you up front. I have a quiz. I have three quiz questions for Joe Lowry that he's going to have to navigate. And we've sort of got these players sorted into where they moved or where they moved from. And we've got a few in the Bundesliga. So my first question is related to the Bundesliga. There have been a lot of American players in the Bundesliga. I don't know the specific number. And that's mostly because when I went to the Wikipedia page, it took me way too long to scroll down and I got bored of coming. So instead, I went this route. Joe, who, according to Wikipedia, stressing that one, was the first U.S. international to play in the Bundesliga? And I will give you a couple of hints since, as I said, there have been many names. You definitely know his name. He was a dual national and he did captain the United States. Oh, man. This is a great question.

3:08.7

I'm running through the dual national thing through me for a loop.

3:11.4

I'm going to be honest.

3:12.3

I don't think I'm going to get this one.

3:13.7

I might need a first initial, last initial kind of thing.

3:19.3

First letter of his last name would be D.
