podcast years in the making. I first met Amanda Shires in 2013 in New York City when she was in town with her hubby and we went and had coffee and I was immediately struck by how incredibly smart she was.

Not only didn't she miss a bead,

she was like ahead of it,

and had a great sense of humor and I could also tell this was like a

great listener and a deeply engaged human being and I've had the privilege of

spending some time with her over the years, always in brief and intense bursts after shows.

And she's just a great artist and a songwriter and amazing violin player.

She's in the 400 unit. She makes albums on her own and she is founding member of the High Women, the incredible super group that took

Nashville by Storm, and she has just released really an incredible single, one of the best songs of her

career, The Problem problem came out this

week when you're listening to this I guess it'll have come out a week or so ago it's a

No, it is funny though, I mean, everybody who talks about you

always talks about how you're the smartest person

in any room you walk into.

And I'm sure that there's a lot of pressure

attendant to sort of knowing that's your rep before you show up.

Well, yes, because I feel like I'm good at a lot of things and there's a lot of folks that are good at a lot of things and I like I've never felt super comfortable
