0:00.0	Hello my friends, I'm Gerd Halverson. Welcome back to Unshaken, and we've got a lot of shaking going on for this week. We begin the war chapters today.
0:07.1	This is going to take us two weeks. In your own time, it's probably going to take you longer than that. We have, oh, about 20 chapters to end the book of Alma and these
0:15.5	are incredible chapters. In fact let me give you a little backstory really quickly and then
0:18.9	we'll dive in. When I was when I was hired at BYU two years ago to start teaching there, there was a group of religion
0:27.0	faculty from the ancient scripture department that forms a group called the Book of Mormon Academy.
0:32.3	It's an amazing group. And the Book of Mormon Academy is a bunch of Mormon Academy. It's an amazing group and the Book of
0:33.7	Mormon Academy is a bunch of professors who specialize in Book of Mormon
0:36.4	topics and we get together well once a month or so and just dive deep into
0:41.7	scripture. In fact after my first session with everybody two years ago, I told
0:46.3	them, thanks for ruining family scripture study for me. It'll never be this good.
0:50.5	Yeah, honestly, you have people that are experts in Mesoamerican languages and others in an ancient near Eastern history and linguistics and all these, I mean, it's like the, I don't know, the Avengers are assembling to study the Book of Mormon.
1:04.7	It's amazing.
1:06.0	And with everyone's areas of expertise, we come together and we've picked each year,
1:10.6	we pick a different topic in the Book of Mormon or a different book and then dive as deep as we can and then we each decide on a topic, we research it, we write it and then come out with a book.
1:21.2	We did that with the Book of Jacob and focused on that.
1:24.3	Well this last year we focused on the war chapters and for an entire year we were
1:29.2	studying small parts of the war chapters. We take, I mean, when you spend an hour on three or four verses,
1:36.6	it makes unshaken look fast, okay?
1:39.4	And you know how slow I can be.
1:41.3	But incredible, incredible experience. And each of us taking a different
1:45.1	approach and looking at it from a different perspective, the war chapters are so rich. This is not something where we just go, oh great, this is Mormon who was a military man himself
